Under the leadership of Sir Neville Marriner, the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields was founded in 1958 as a small chamber ensemble that brought together some of London's finest musicians. Concentrating at first on music from the Baroque era, the orchestra now performs music from all periods. With more than 500 recordings, it is the most recorded chamber orchestra in the world and is considered by many to be the most prestigious. The acclaimed violinist, Julian Rachlin, joins the orchestra as soloist and conductor for its Newlin Hall concert.
